The other day, I stayed at a hotel on Miyakojima for the first time in my life!
I stayed at Shigira Resort, a well-known spot on Miyakojima.
After staying there, I felt that Shigira was a hotel that perfectly matched everyone’s image of an Okinawan resort.
The grounds are very spacious, and there is a wide variety of room grades and types available for guests.
This hotel caters to a wide range of guests’ needs.
This time,A Super-Cheap Plan for Miyakojima Residents: 10,000 yenI stayed there |゚Д゚)))

I don’t think the prices are particularly relevant, but I hope this helps you choose a hotel for your trip to Miyakojima♪
HoStaying at Crosspoint Santa Monica
Shigira Resort offers nine different hotel types, with a variety of room categories.
One of the most famous accommodations is THE SHIGIRA, a villa-style suite.

Alamanda: Where You Can See Sea Turtles Swimming Up Close

Even among the many high-end villa-style accommodations at Shigira Resort, this one is reasonably priced
I stayed at “HOT CROSS POINT SANTA MONICA”

Hibiscus flowers float in the entrance, giving it a tropical feel.

The entrance has a fun, pop vibe.
Santa Monica appears to be geared primarily toward young people and families, and the entrance has a pop-art vibe.
The children were having a lively, fun time.

The lobby is spacious and features many bench-style sofas.

Since I visited in March, there were relatively few guests staying at the hotel.
A number of seats that would likely come in handy during the summer peak season

The rooms are simple yet stylish.
In terms of room size and layout, it gives the impression of a business hotel.
Even so, the color scheme and furnishings create a stylish and relaxing atmosphere.

The TV is also on the large side
It’s the best to watch this while lounging in bed, isn’t it?

On the bed is an objet d’art that resembles driftwood

The bathroom is enclosed in glass
The bath wasn’t very spacious, but because it was glass-enclosed, it didn’t feel cramped.
It really does have a simple, stylish charm.

The bathroom also features soothing colors
Shampoo and body wash come in bottles.

The mirror in the bathroom is also quite large.

The drinks and amenities are standard fare.
The drinks are the kind you often see at hotels.
Coffee maker

Mineral water and green tea bags

A tablet displaying hotel information and an electric kettle

SGira Golden Hot Springs is the best
Of all the places I stayed at this time, Shigira Golden Hot Spring was by far the best—far exceeding my expectations.
Since it was included in our accommodation package, we stopped by before dinner.
It’s a 2- to 3-minute walk from the hotel.

Shigira Golden Hot Springs is Japan’s southernmost and westernmost hot spring!
When I was a kid, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that the day would come when I could enjoy a hot spring on the island (;゚Д゚)!

An entrance brimming with tropical charm
It completely overturns all the images of hot springs I’ve seen on the mainland. (Laughs)

It’s a bit pricey, but it has a pool.
Admission to Shigira Golden Hot Springs is on the high side at 1,530 yen for adults on weekdays.
If you live on Miyakojima, the admission fees—1,200 yen for adults and 600 yen for children on weekdays—make it an affordable place to visit.
Since it was included in our accommodation package this time, we were only charged for the children.

The hot spring is a sodium chloride spring.
When it touches your lips, you can faintly taste the salt.
The pool is even better than I imagined!
I knew there was a pool, so I brought my swimsuit.
The pool I saw on the sign earlier
Even preschoolers can play safely in water that’s only waist-deep.

And something I didn’t expect was this pool
It’s got that full-on resort vibe (゚Д゚≡゚Д゚)

The water is as deep as a regular pool, so you can swim there!
For anyone who’s ever been scolded for swimming in a hot spring or public bath, this is a dream pool! (*´∀`*)人(*´∀`*)
There’s nothing quite as luxurious as taking a shower after a satisfying swim in the hot spring pool and then getting back into the hot spring.
The pool was set to a slightly cooler temperature, which was perfect for exercising.
It’s also nice that there’s a spin dryer for wet swimsuits.
DragonYakiniku Dinner at Miyuen
For dinner, we had yakiniku at Ryuguen, which was included in our accommodation package.
It is located across from Shigira Golden Hot Springs.

The people from Miyako I know usually buy Miyako beef from a butcher shop and have a barbecue whenever they feel like having grilled meat.
My family is exactly that type—ever since I was a kid, “yakiniku” has meant having a BBQ in the backyard.
Since my parents were with me this time, I wonder how long it’s been since I last had yakiniku with them at a restaurant…
Miyakojima is a region known for its thriving trade in Kuroge Wagyu calves, so if you’re interested, feel free to check out our past articles too♪
The meat was absolutely delicious.
The accommodation package includes, first of all, a salad and kimchi.

Next up, some out-of-focus mozuku…

Grilled Local Vegetables

Yanbaru Birds and Aguu Pork
This was delicious♪

Assorted Platter of 3 Types of Meat (I forgot which cuts they were…

It was absolutely delicious.
The restaurant really does have a great sense of flavor.

MorningThe all-you-can-eat buffet offers a wide variety of dishes.
For breakfast, we enjoyed a buffet at the hotel’s restaurant.
The restaurants also have a casual atmosphere

I also like trays and spoons that have a MUJI or KEYUCA vibe.
For kids, there’s Miffy

What I love most about the hotel’s breakfast buffet is the salad.
Being able to choose from so many different kinds of salads is a luxury you rarely get to experience at home.
Vegetables are expensive, too

The potato salad was delicious, too.

Have you ever eaten papaya? On Miyakojima, it’s called “manju.”
Be sure to give it a try when you visit!♪
As a local, I’m really happy to see them using locally grown vegetables.

There are also some Okinawan-style menu items here and there.
Somen champuru is delicious, isn’t it?

The chicken skin was crispy and delicious.

The croissants are crispy too

I thought margarine made with purple sweet potatoes and brown sugar was really interesting.
Maybe I just couldn’t find it, but it was a bit of a shame that there was no butter (?)…

The drinks actually looked pretty good, too.
The guava was delicious, too.

The fruits available included passion fruit, mangoes, pineapples, and bananas—all typical of Okinawa.

The homemade ice cream was delicious, too.
I like brown sugar because it has just the right amount of sweetness.

There were also some toppings where I went overboard and ended up regretting it.

After a meal, relax on the terrace
There are also outdoor seating areas, and lounge chairs where you can relax on the lawn.

It was really nice to be able to just lounge around while gazing at the ocean.
The children were also playing at being on vacation.
The area on the left is undergoing some construction—perhaps they’re planning an expansion.

RiA Spontaneous Stroll in the Sky
Since it was included in the package, I took the lift before heading home.
Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy, but the children were still happy.

If it’s sunny, the ocean should look absolutely beautiful.
Since you have to get off the lift once you reach the bottom, I took a short walk and then took the lift back up.

How to Get to Shigira Resort
Shigira Resort is about a 15-minute drive from Miyako Airport.
It’s a bit of a distance from Shimojishima Airport, so it takes about 50 minutes.
Nearby is the Ingya Marine Garden.
I’ve also written about Ingya in a previous post, so please check it out♪
Recommended for snorkeling with children
I’m so grateful to Shigira Resort for letting me enjoy all this for just 10,000 yen this time♪
I don’t think you’ll find a deal this cheap very often, so be sure to time your visit for when it’s most affordable.
Or, for a rare treat, why not go for a villa-style stay? ( *`ω´) ドヤァ
I hope this article helps make someone’s trip more enjoyable.
Thank you for reading to the end (っ_ _)っ
