Geo Holdings (2681) Stock Price and Dividends

I’m curious about GEO Holdings

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear “GEO”? Probably the image of a video rental store, right?

I used to think of it exclusively as a video rental store, too. However, sometimes larger GEO stores have a thrift store called “Second Street” attached to them. I didn’t realize until I became an adult that Second Street is also part of GEO Holdings.

And this store is the one that got me into buying vintage clothing. When I thought of vintage clothing, I used to have the impression that it was a bit dirty, smelled like a used bookstore, and was cluttered and hard to browse through—but “Second Street” was organized by genre, making it easy to look around. That’s when I realized vintage clothing was actually a viable option. These days, my interest has shifted to other vintage shops, so I don’t buy there anymore… but the

Harajuku and Shibuya locations often carry some decent brands. Below is a photo of the Harajuku store.

I Checked Out the Omiya Nisshin Store

The other day, I went to the Omiya Nisshin store to sell some stuff I didn’t need in preparation for my move! It was my first time visiting a Second Street store with “Super” in its name, and wow, it was huge! Σ(゚Д゚) And so clean… I couldn’t help but take some photos, so I’ll share them here.

First, when you walk in and take the escalator up, there’s a small café. It’s nice to be able to take a little break while browsing.

There’s also a bookstore. At first glance, I thought it was a Tsutaya ^^;

And here’s what I liked best!

They have a play area!! Personally, I think the biggest hassle when

shopping is that kids get bored while you’re still debating whether or not to buy something. If you come with your spouse or grandparents, one person can keep the kids entertained while sipping coffee and waiting, while the other looks for items—or just takes their time deciding. Plus, since it’s inside the store, if you find something you’re interested in, you can bring it over to the play area to discuss it. I thought this was a really well-thought-out store design.

Financial Performance and Dividends

So, speaking of GEO Holdings, how are their latest financial results and stock price holding up?

I’m still a beginner when it comes to investing. Although sales have decreased compared to the previous year, net income has increased, so personally, I think that’s a good sign. EPS is 137.96 yen, and the equity ratio is 52.42%. Since the dividend is 34 yen per share, I don’t think there’s much chance they’ll suddenly stop paying dividends.By the way, as of January 14, the stock price is 1,569 yen, so the dividend yield is 2.1%. Not exactly a great return… lol However, it seems shareholders receive the following benefits as

part of the shareholder perk program.

Apparently, the 50% rental discount can be used up to 1 million yen over the course of a year, so I think this would be a good deal for households that rent items frequently.

I’d like to buy if the price drops in the future

Considering all of the above, if you asked me if I want to buy it right now, I’d say NO… lol. But since I’m writing an article about it, I am curious… I’ve been thinking about it for a while now ^^; Four years ago, when the price was in the 900-yen range, I kept thinking I wanted to buy it but kept putting it off, so if the price drops significantly again, I’d like to pick some up.
