First-Quarter Results
System Information (3667), which I wrote about on my blog three days ago, has announced its first-quarter financial results, so I’m writing another blog post on this topic. The financial results are as follows, and I think this is an excellent start.

Revenue, operating profit, and ordinary profit have all grown significantly compared to the previous fiscal year. In particular, the 73% increase in operating profit is reassuring.Additionally, net income per share came in at 20 yen, exceeding the 18-yen dividend for the quarter. Personally, I also find the high equity ratio reassuring. Some people might not view a high equity ratio as a positive, though…
Stock Price Trends
Next, here’s how the stock price moved today following yesterday’s announcement.

The previous day’s closing price was 1,161 yen, and today’s opening price was 1,401 yen—a 240-yen (20%) increase from the previous day. Today’s high was 1,461 yen, and the low was 1,376 yen at the opening.
I hope it keeps going up
I purchased just 100 shares at 739 yen in August 2017, so as of today, I’m up 94%.

Since my gains swelled to 149% at one point last year, I couldn’t bring myself to take profits as of today. With the Nikkei 225 and the Dow gradually recovering, it’s a tough call whether to sell now in anticipation of a market pullback or to wait a while longer, expecting the price to keep rising.
If this were a stock I’d invested in for income, it would be easier to take profits—thinking of it as receiving several years’ worth of dividends in advance. But since I bought it for capital gains, it’s a tough call.
However, I’ve been caught before thinking “it’ll keep going up, it’ll keep going up” only to see the price drop, so this time I’ll make a sound decision and place a sell order.
